Premarket Movers | Chip and Quantum Computing Stocks Gain; Salesforce Rise 2%; SkyWater Drops 5%

Chip stocks gained in premarket trading on Tuesday. United Microelectronics rose 10%; Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares and Micron Technology rose 4%; SanDisk, Western Digital, and Seagate Technology rose 3%; Lam Research, KLA Corporation, Applied Materials and GlobalFoundries rose 2%; Astera Labs, Arm, TSMC, Marvell Technology, VanEck Semiconductor ETF, and Intel rose 1%.

U.S. memory chipmaker Micron Technology said on Tuesday it plans to build a $24-billion chip manufacturing plant in ​Singapore, as it races to boost output in the face of an acute global ‌shortage.

Quantum computing stocks rose in premarket trading. IONQ rose 4%; SEALSQ rose 3%; D-Wave Quantum and Quantum Computing rose 2%.

MicroCloud Hologram, , and Rigetti Computing rose 3%; , , and Quantum Corporation rose 2%.

Continuing its acquisition spree, IonQ on Monday announced the purchase of SkyWater Technology in a deal the companies valued at $1.8 billion. IonQ has been the most aggressive acquirer among quantum computing stocks. While SkyWater fell 4.5% in premarket trading.

Salesforce unit Computable Insights was awarded a nine-year contract to provide services to the U.S. army, the Department of War said on Monday. The shares gained 1.9% in premarket trading.
