AstraZeneca Jumps 4% While Sanofi Surges 1.7% on Optimism Pharma Can Clinch US Price Deals
AstraZeneca Plc, Novartis AG, Sanofi and other European drugmakers advanced on optimism that rival Pfizer Inc.’s pricing agreement opens the way for others to strike similar deals.
Astra’s U.S.-listed shares surged as much as 4%. The UK drugmaker makes almost half of its revenue in the US. Sanofi rose 1.7%.

Pfizer secured a three-year grace period from President Donald Trump’s promised tariffs on pharmaceuticals in a deal announced Tuesday. The agreement gives others a blueprint to gain some respite, analysts said.
The news also gave Novo Nordisk A/S shares, battered by investors in recent months, a good day. The maker of the weight-loss blockbuster Wegovy climbed 1%.
Pfizer agreed to sell some drugs at a 50% average discount on a direct-to-consumer website called TrumpRx, an initiative intended to allow Americans to pay for prescriptions at discounted rates negotiated by the government. The US pharma market, the biggest in the world, is crucial for European drugmakers.
