Xiaomi Corp. is set to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 17 series, along with new tablets and high-end smart home products at an event this evening, where founder and CEO Lei Jun will deliver his annual keynote.
Lei confirmed on social media that the combined speech and product launch will run for about two and a half hours, well under three hours. He described the annual keynote as “a chance for in-depth communication” with Xiaomi’s community.
The event will be divided into two segments: Lei’s annual speech in the first half, followed by product announcements in the second. Xiaomi will introduce the Mi 17 lineup, the Mi Pad 8 series, and a range of premium smart appliances, including a new high-end speaker that Lei personally endorsed.
On pricing, Lei reiterated that the standard Mi 17 will feature significant upgrades while maintaining its predecessor’s price point. The Mi 17 Pro and Mi 17 Pro Max will move further upmarket, with detailed pricing to be revealed during the launch.
All Mi 17 models will ship with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3 operating system, which Lei said brings “substantial improvements.” He encouraged users to provide feedback once they receive their devices.
Xiaomi also teased lifestyle elements surrounding the event, with Lei joking about the popularity of a new T-shirt he recently wore, designed by an independent artist.
The highly anticipated launch underscores Xiaomi’s strategy to strengthen its premium positioning in smartphones and expand its ecosystem of connected devices.
