Friends Again? Musk, Trump Reunite Months After Bitter Breakup; Surprise Handshake at Charlie Kirk Memorial

US President Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk met during Charlie Kirk's memorial service in Arizona, some three months after their public falling out.

Two of the world's most powerful people were once close allies, but fell out over Trump's "big, beautiful bill," after Musk attacked the president's signature law — prompting the president to suggest he could cancel his former adviser and biggest political donor's government contracts.

Trump and Musk were captured on camera shaking hands behind bullet proof glass at the memorial service.

Trump and Musk shake hands during the public memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday.

Trump and Musk were spotted during the service seated together in a private suite and speaking. An official White House social media account highlighted their exchange. At one point, Trump appeared to introduce Musk to Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

It marked the first time the two men had been seen together in public since Musk left his role as a special government employee on acrimonious terms.

Musk left as head of the Department of Government Efficiency at the end of May, and on his way out was harshly critical of the White House’s signature policy bill, noting it added to the national debt.

The two men, who were seemingly inseparable during Musk’s time in the White House, had spoken on the phone since their falling-out.

"Every seat in this giant arena that isn't roped off for security is packed to the ceiling. Honored to be here," Musk wrote on X from the service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. "All for Charlie Kirk."
