Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 1.49%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.49% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASM International NV (AS:ASMI), which rose 5.42% or 28.00 points to trade at 544.60 at the close. Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) fell 0.25% or 0.08 points to end at 30.13 and Randstad NV (AS:RAND) was down 0.86% or 0.37 points to 42.57 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which lost 3.43% or 0.86 points to trade at 24.23 in late trade. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) declined 3.24% or 21.20 points to end at 634.00 and Prosus (AS:PRX) shed 2.79% or 1.12 points to 39.09.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 80 to 27 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.98% or 1.33 to $68.54 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.91% or 1.35 to hit $72.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.58% or 16.15 to trade at $2,797.25 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.52% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 103.96.
