Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI down 0.73%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI fell 0.73% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Semapa (ELI:SEM), which rose 0.41% or 0.06 points to trade at 14.84 at the close. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) added 0.32% or 0.01 points to end at 2.49 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) was up 0.28% or 0.05 points to 16.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT), which lost 2.49% or 0.11 points to trade at 4.12 in late trade. Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) declined 2.11% or 0.18 points to end at 8.35 and The Navigator Company SA (ELI:NVGR) shed 1.61% or 0.06 points to 3.55.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 8 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was up 1.91% or 1.35 to $72.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.99% or 1.34 to hit $68.55 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 16.50 to trade at $2,797.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.53% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 103.95.
