Finland shares lower at close of trade; OMX Helsinki 25 down 1.47%

Investing.com – Finland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil&Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 declined 1.47% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the OMX Helsinki 25 were Kesko Oyj (HE:KESKOB), which rose 11.23% or 2.02 points to trade at 20.01 at the close. Konecranes ABP (HE:KCRA) added 0.78% or 0.50 points to end at 64.40 and Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV) was up 0.74% or 0.33 points to 44.67 in late trade.

Biggest losers included UPM-Kymmene Oyj (HE:UPM), which lost 4.39% or 1.25 points to trade at 27.20 in late trade. Metso Oyj (HE:METSO) declined 3.69% or 0.34 points to end at 8.82 and KONE Oyj (HE:KNEBV) shed 3.23% or 1.68 points to 50.40.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 109 to 62 and 17 ended unchanged on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was up 1.97% or 1.39 to $72.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.04% or 1.37 to hit $68.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 16.45 to trade at $2,797.55 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.53% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 103.89.
