Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 1.38%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Household and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite fell 1.38% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which rose 1.47% or 0.16 points to trade at 11.06 at the close. Metlen Energy&Metals AE (AT:MYTr) added 1.23% or 0.40 points to end at 32.80 and Gr Sarantis SA (AT:SRSr) was up 0.92% or 0.10 points to 11.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Domiki Kritis SA (AT:DKRr), which lost 5.08% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.53 in late trade. Intrakat Technikon Kai Energeiakon Ergon AE (AT:INCr) declined 4.54% or 0.23 points to end at 4.84 and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) shed 4.11% or 0.83 points to 19.35.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 18 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 15.45 to $2,796.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.53% or 1.70 to hit $68.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.39% or 1.69 to trade at $72.42 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 103.89.
