Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.25%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods&Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.25% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which rose 14.17% or 1.22 points to trade at 9.83 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) added 3.93% or 12.00 points to end at 317.12 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) was up 2.64% or 0.38 points to 14.76 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA), which lost 4.41% or 2.86 points to trade at 62.00 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 3.91% or 0.43 points to end at 10.58 and America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV:AMXB) shed 3.39% or 0.57 points to 16.23.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 107 and 18 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.14% or 31.40 to $2,787.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $67.49 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $71.00 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.06% to 20.06, while EUR/MXN fell 0.04% to 21.69.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 104.13.
