Belgium shares lower at close of trade; BEL 20 down 0.40%

Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.40%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 0.96% or 1.70 points to trade at 179.70 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.60% or 0.16 points to end at 26.84 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) was up 0.20% or 0.15 points to 73.39 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 3.65% or 3.40 points to trade at 89.85 in late trade. Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) declined 2.29% or 1.40 points to end at 59.80 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 1.64% or 0.42 points to 25.22.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 34 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.01% or 27.75 to $2,783.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.33% or 0.22 to hit $67.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.31 to trade at $70.69 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 104.23.
