Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.08%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods&Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO), which rose 3.79% or 1.53 points to trade at 41.90 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) added 1.41% or 2.31 points to end at 165.71 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) was up 1.09% or 0.13 points to 12.03 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gruma SAB de CV (BMV:GRUMAB), which lost 7.64% or 27.63 points to trade at 334.00 in late trade. Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) declined 3.40% or 1.62 points to end at 46.08 and Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) shed 3.07% or 4.64 points to 146.70.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 127 to 97 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 5.90 to $2,661.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.91% or 2.91 to hit $77.29 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $81.12 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.10% to 19.29, while EUR/MXN rose 0.04% to 21.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 102.26.
