FTSE 100 Midday: U.K. shares down, retail sales mixed

Investing.com – U.K. equities started the week with gains, but so far the last day of the week doesn’t offer much in terms of gains. By midday, Beverages, Industrial Transportation, Automobiles & Parts and Tobacco were the top losers.

Today in London so far, the FTSE 100 Index fell 0.46%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also declined. The FTSE 250 dropped 0.12%, while the FTSE 350 is down by 0.38%.

• Entain (LON:ENT): Increased 2.29% or 14.20 points to 635.40
• Pershing Square (NYSE:SQ): Rose 1.54% or 56.00 points to 3,690.00
• Melrose Industries (LON:MRON): Climbed 1.38% or 6.90 points to 505.40

Top Losers:

• Rightmove (LON:RMV): Declined 2.01% or 11.00 points to 536.20
• Diageo (LON:DGE): Dropped 1.39% or 35.00 points to 2,485.5
• Antofagasta (LON:ANTO): Fell 1.40% or 26.50 points to 1,861.00

In Commodities Trading:

• Gold Futures for December delivery climbed 10.95 points to 2,503.35 a troy ounce.
• Crude Oil for September delivery dropped 1.88 points to 76.28 a barrel.
• October Brent Oil Contract fell 2.07% or 1.68 points to 79.36 a barrel.

Currency Markets:

• GBP/USD jumped over the 1.29 line today with a daily range of 1.2852-1.2909.
• EUR/GBP is traded at 0.8516.
• The US Dollar Index Futures is down 0.17% at 102.632.

Main Economic Events:

The retail sales data read 0.5% MoM, which is not far from the expectations, along with the core retail sales numbers.
