FTSE 100 up today; inflation data released

Investing.com – U.K. equities started with gains on Wednesday, with rises in nearly all sectors, the most notable ones being the Automobiles & Parts, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Travel & Leisure and Oil & Gas.

At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.56%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also rose. The FTSE 250 increased 0.65%, while the FTSE 350 was up by 0.63%.

• Flutter (LON:FLTRF) Entertainment: Climbed 12.01% or 1.760 points to 16,427.5
• Entain (LON:ENT): Increased 2.41% or 14.00 points to 595.40
• Airtel Africa (LON:AAF): Rose 1.71% or 1.90 points to 113.20

Top Losers:

• Rio Tinto (LON:RIO): Fell 1.61% or 79.5 points to 4,849.5
• Anglo American (JO:AGLJ): Declined 1.25% or 27.8 points to 2,203.7
• Antofagasta (LON:ANTO): Dropped 0.35% or 6.50 points to 1,832.00

• Gold Futures for December delivery fell 0.30 points to 2,507.50 a troy ounce.
• Crude Oil for September delivery increased 0.46 points to 78.81 a barrel.
• October Brent Oil Contract rose 0.52% or 0.42 points to 81.11 a barrel.

Currency Markets:

• GBP/USD is cruising at 1.28.
• EUR/GBP is stable at 0.58.
• The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 102.447.

Today's main economic events in the United Kingdom are the CPI numbers. Yearly inflation read 2.2% in line with the BoE’s 2% prediction.
