Lesaka Q1 FY2027 EBITDA Falls 17% Despite Net Revenue Growth
Lesaka Technologies reported an 8% increase in first-quarter fiscal 2027 non-GAAP net revenue to R1.58 billion, while Group Adjusted EBITDA declined 17% to R220.1 million due to a Merchant division reset and higher group costs. Strong growth in Consumer and Enterprise segments offset Merchant weakness. Management maintained its full-year guidance, expecting sequential Merchant earnings recovery and anticipating completion of the Bank Zero acquisition by early Q3. Risks include pending regulatory approvals, currency volatility, higher net debt, and increased group expenses.
Lesaka Technologies (NASDAQ: LSAK) reported higher first-quarter fiscal 2027 net revenue but lower profitability as growth in its Consumer and Enterprise businesses was offset by a Merchant division reset and increased group costs. The South African fintech maintained fiscal-year guidance and expects Merchant earnings to recover sequentially from the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

Lesaka also said investments in controls and cybersecurity are reflected in fiscal 2027 group costs. Group costs increased 44% to R91.4 million in Q1. The company identified pending Bank Zero approvals, currency movements and broader economic, competitive, governmental and technological factors among the uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ from its expectations.
