Marathon Petroleum Q2 2026 earnings: Refining margins drive profit growth

Marathon Petroleum's Q2 2026 revenue rose 53.8% to $51.99 billion, diluted EPS increased to $17.73 from $3.96, and adjusted EBITDA reached $8.46 billion. The main driver was Refining & Marketing margin expansion to $36.33 per barrel as crack spreads improved across all regions, more than offsetting lower throughput and higher unit operating costs. Midstream EBITDA advanced modestly, while Renewable Diesel swung to a $258 million adjusted EBITDA profit. MPC ended June with $7.77 billion in cash and returned over $2.8 billion to shareholders.
