CrowdStrike surged past $226 following strong second-quarter results, driven by record net-new ARR of $332.8 million, robust Falcon Flex adoption, and record free cash flow of $377.4 million, alongside raised FY2027 guidance. Enterprise spending is increasingly shifting toward AI security, positioning the company's Falcon platform advantageously. Technically, the stock trades near a major $227 to $230 resistance zone with an RSI of 78, signaling overbought conditions. While fundamentals remain robust, short-term risks center on potential profit-taking and consolidation near resistance, with key support identified at $213.58 and a successful breakout targeting $238.77.

AI-generated summary

TradingKey - CrowdStrike share price briefly topped $226 during trading on August 27th having pumped approximately 20% post earnings off the back of a record breaking Net-New ARR, an improving cash flow and a more bullish outlook for the full 2027 financial year. This places CRWD directly within a large $227-$230 resistance zone, and at a time that AI security begins to dominate budgets for enterprise spending. In this context, the most pressing issue is whether the fundamentals support the breakout.

Record Net-New ARR Is the Strongest Signal in Q2

Crowdstrike reported fiscal second quarter revenue of $1.47 billion for a 26% year over year increase, with subscription revenue of $1.40 billion for a 27% year over year increase. Ending ARR reached $5.84 billion for a 25% increase, but the key metric was $332.8 million record net-new ARR for a 51% year over year increase.

This is a strong forward looking indicator of subscription growth and signals CrowdStrike is both retaining customers and succeeding in both new customer acquisitions and upselling.

Falcon Flex Is Driving Platform Consolidation

Falcon Flex is a growing segment. Ending ARR from Flex customers surpassed $2.29 billion, a 101% year on year increase. The model allows enterprises to make commitments across CrowdStrike modules while retaining the ability to choose which individual modules to deploy.

This is further illustrated by segment adoption, where 51% of subscription customers use at least six modules, and 26% use at least eight modules. This further increases the customer reliance on the Falcon offering across endpoints and cloud services, as well as identity, SIEM and other workload services.

Cash Flow and Guidance Give the Rally Fundamental Support

Operating leverage continued to improve for CrowdStrike. The company posted a GAAP operating loss of $33.2 million and a strong non-GAAP operating income of $371.6 million. Operating cash flow hit a second quarter record of $530.3 million and free cash flow was a record $377.4 million, which equates to a 26% margin.

The company has given strong management assurance. For FY2027 they forecast revenue between $5.991 billion to $6.011 billion with ending ARR forecast at $6.603 billion to $6.612 billion. Net new ARR growth was up 630 basis points to around 34% at the midpoint. The company expects $1.523 billion to $1.529 billion revenue and $0.31 non-GAAP EPS for Q3.

AI Security Is Moving From Narrative to Spending Driver

The industry of cybersecurity is growing. Over 100 of the world's largest tech and finance companies met to discuss the growing threat of AI-based cyberattacks on the 27th of August. They claim the attacks, enabled by AI, will become more widespread and dangerous.

This is an area CrowdStrike has already targeted. Their product, Falcon AI Detection and Response, protects both AI and agentic applications, and Continuous Identity for AI Agents continuously evaluates identity and risk and can revoke access when risk becomes too high. If an enterprise chooses to use automated agents, identity security becomes a large market with the addition of automated users.

Falcon can also be used to secure applications built with Bedrock, Kiro and Strands Agents, by Amazon Web Services. The next major catalyst is scheduled to be the Fal.Con investor briefing on the 2nd of September.

CRWD Technical Analysis: $230 Is the Decisive Breakout Level

As of the chart supplied, CRWD is at around $228.04. The post-earnings surge on the 27th of August closed around $226.17. This does not change the analysis, with price moving directly towards the $227.20-$230 resistance zone. A breakout above $230 invalidates this resistance zone, setting a new resistance at $238.77, then $250.06 and $260.38. The stock reclaiming $213.58 along with both moving averages shows a strengthening trend.

Momentum is powerful but stretched. RSI at 78 is far beyond the overbought zone at 70, which means there's a high chance of either consolidation or profit taking, but the overall trend could still be considered bullish. In the event of a breakout failure, support will be at around $213.58 while $202.85-$201.47 will form a moving average cluster on the way down.

Key Levels

·       Latest completed close: Around $226.17

·       Breakout resistance: $227.20-$230.00

·       First upside target: $238.77

·       Higher targets: $250.06 and $260.38

·       Moving-average support: $202.85-$201.47

·       RSI: About 78, overbought

Why did CrowdStrike stock jump after earnings?

CRWD jumped for delivering a record in net-new ARR, quicker Falcon Flex growth, record free cash flow, and bulking the full year net-new ARR guidance. While the broader AI and tech rally helped, this move was driven by stronger company-based fundamentals.

Is CRWD overbought after the rally?

Yes, on the provided 2 hour chart RSI is around 78, above the 70 level of overbought. While it doesn’t guarantee a reversal, it does increase the chance of a consolidation or a reversal at the $227 - $230 resistance.

Bottom Line

CrowdStrike’s post earnings rally is justified due to an actual improvement in the quality of growth metrics (net-new ARR) 51%, Falcon Flex ARR doubled, cash flow records, and guidance changes. There is a strong sustained demand for AI driven security as companies adopt more and more cloud based computing and AI networks. The main risk in the short term is more technical than fundamental. CRWD is overbought and is trading near the major $227 - $230 resistance zone. A break above $230 would justify the rally to $238.77 - $250.06 ,while going back below $227 would justify a fall to $213.58.
