Kingsoft shares surged 14% in Hong Kong as the Ministry of Commerce of China adopts WPS format for announcement attachments for the first time.

On October 9, the Ministry of Commerce issued its 2025 Announcement No. 61, which imposed export controls on certain rare earth-related items containing Chinese components. Besides the control rules, the attachment is in WPS format, and relevant application documents must be submitted in Chinese, causing widespread discussion. WPS is an office software independently developed by Kingsoft Office.

Kingsoft Office's 2024 financial report shows that the monthly active devices (MAD) of WPS Office worldwide have exceeded 632 million, reaching a historical high with a year-on-year growth of 6.22%. Among them, the daily active devices of the WPS Office PC version in China have surpassed 100 million.
