Meta to Invest at Least $600B on US Data Centers, Infrastructure Through 2028 - The Information
Meta Platforms plans to invest "something like at least $600 billion" on data centers and other infrastructure in the United States through 2028, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The Facebook parent company’s chief executive made these remarks on Thursday during a dinner with President Donald Trump and other technology executives, as reported by The Information.
This massive spending plan aligns with Meta’s previously announced capital expenditure forecasts. In July, the company projected its capital expenditures for 2025 would range between $66 billion and $72 billion, representing an increase of at least 68% from its 2024 spending levels. Meta also indicated it expects "similarly significant capital expenditures dollar growth in 2026" as it expands computing capacity for artificial intelligence initiatives.
Zuckerberg stated in July that Meta would "invest hundreds of billions of dollars into compute" for AI, though he did not specify a timeframe for that investment at that time. He assured that "we have the capital from our business to do this."
