
Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles&Parts, General Industrial and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN), which rose 10.45% or 159.00 points to trade at 1,681.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 6.69% or 1,290.00 points to end at 20,560.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.04% or 2.04 points to 69.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN), which lost 7.23% or 162.00 points to trade at 2,078.00 in late trade. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 3.79% or 215.00 points to end at 5,455.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) shed 3.03% or 8.00 points to 256.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1138 to 647 and 671 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.69% or 18.00 to $2,588.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $68.42 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.35 to trade at $72.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 106.33.
