Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI down 1.37%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI declined 1.37% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which rose 1.08% or 0.20 points to trade at 18.72 at the close. Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) added 0.61% or 0.05 points to end at 8.25 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) was up 0.22% or 0.01 points to 2.33 in late trade.

Biggest losers included EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which lost 3.97% or 0.44 points to trade at 10.64 in late trade. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) declined 3.03% or 0.08 points to end at 2.56 and Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) shed 2.32% or 0.01 points to 0.44.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 8 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was up 0.32% or 0.23 to $72.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.35% or 0.24 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.66% or 17.40 to trade at $2,600.30 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.57% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 106.08.
