Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 2.06%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare, Chemicals and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.06%, while the MDAX index declined 2.10%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.85%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 3.66% or 1.09 points to trade at 30.85 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.59% or 9.00 points to end at 574.00 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was up 0.17% or 0.40 points to 230.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which lost 14.50% or 3.54 points to trade at 20.88 in late trade. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 8.16% or 5.02 points to end at 56.50 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) shed 4.28% or 1.89 points to 42.38.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which rose 1.62% to 226.00, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.13% to settle at 35.74 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which gained 0.74% to close at 11.50.

The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 17.57% to 15.62 in late trade, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which lost 7.09% to settle at 76.00 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 5.86% to 11.56 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which rose 4.06% to 66.70, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was up 3.66% to settle at 30.85 and SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which gained 1.16% to close at 52.20.

The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 17.57% to 15.62 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 10.22% to settle at 22.84 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 8.97% to 8.11 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 485 to 142 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.52% to 15.37 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 16.75 to $2,600.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.43% or 0.29 to hit $68.33 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.29 to trade at $72.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.58% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 106.08.
