Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.22%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.22%, while the MDAX index gained 1.61%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.13%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG), which rose 10.62% or 6.00 points to trade at 62.50 at the close. Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) added 4.17% or 4.85 points to end at 121.10 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was up 3.97% or 0.62 points to 16.14 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which lost 1.09% or 0.41 points to trade at 37.16 in late trade. Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) declined 1.03% or 0.35 points to end at 33.50 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) shed 0.40% or 0.26 points to 64.34.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 5.81% to 35.34, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was up 5.17% to settle at 39.07 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 5.13% to close at 92.20.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 2.23% to 11.42 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which lost 2.18% to settle at 3.33 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 1.15% to 41.28 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 16.76% to 8.91, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 5.81% to settle at 35.34 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 3.92% to close at 25.44.

The worst performers were Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was down 2.40% to 42.65 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 2.23% to settle at 11.42 and SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 1.90% to 51.60 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 419 to 223 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.52% to 15.37 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.73% or 73.60 to $2,621.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.93% or 2.06 to hit $68.32 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.61% or 1.93 to trade at $71.94 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 105.43.
