Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.14%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Transportation&Logistics and Consumer&Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.14%, while the MDAX index lost 0.83%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.69%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which rose 5.95% or 2.88 points to trade at 51.26 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 3.23% or 15.50 points to end at 495.80 and Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 2.66% or 0.90 points to 34.72 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which lost 6.58% or 4.78 points to trade at 67.84 in late trade. Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) declined 6.44% or 3.60 points to end at 52.30 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) shed 6.05% or 1.68 points to 26.09.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which rose 5.65% to 39.05, Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was up 4.38% to settle at 224.20 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which gained 4.16% to close at 37.55.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 12.96% to 11.69 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 7.55% to settle at 12.12 and Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which was down 7.14% to 18.67 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which rose 11.87% to 16.96, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was up 5.95% to settle at 51.26 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 1.88% to close at 32.46.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 15.29% to 7.20 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 12.96% to settle at 11.69 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 10.64% to 13.60 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 371 to 251 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.40% to 18.69.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.65% or 73.00 to $2,676.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $71.95 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.25 to trade at $75.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.82% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.65% at 105.03.
