Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.55%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food&Beverages, Industrials and Software sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.55%, while the MDAX index gained 0.52%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.63%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG), which rose 2.74% or 2.80 points to trade at 105.15 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 2.56% or 12.00 points to end at 480.30 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was up 2.16% or 6.60 points to 311.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DHLn), which lost 4.04% or 1.51 points to trade at 35.84 in late trade. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 2.13% or 0.96 points to end at 44.05 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) shed 1.20% or 0.68 points to 56.20.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which rose 8.86% to 81.70, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 6.53% to settle at 3.43 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 4.94% to close at 31.86.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 4.30% to 41.20 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 4.03% to settle at 13.11 and K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 2.27% to 11.84 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which rose 16.34% to 64.80, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.94% to settle at 8.50 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 4.94% to close at 31.86.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 4.03% to 13.11 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 3.49% to settle at 15.22 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 1.65% to 119.40 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 328 to 274 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.67% to 19.55.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 3.95 to $2,750.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.48% or 1.06 to hit $72.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.98 to trade at $76.06 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 103.40.
