Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.53%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods&Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.53%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GCC SAB de CV (BMV:GCC), which rose 3.48% or 5.61 points to trade at 166.70 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 2.69% or 1.32 points to end at 50.45 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA) was up 2.21% or 1.36 points to 62.83 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1), which lost 2.66% or 3.25 points to trade at 118.84 in late trade. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) declined 2.64% or 0.38 points to end at 14.00 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) shed 2.61% or 0.66 points to 24.65.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 96 and 19 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 3.35 to $2,745.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.12% or 2.17 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.98% or 2.18 to trade at $75.28 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.82% to 20.10, while EUR/MXN fell 0.18% to 21.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 103.81.
