Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.58%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.58%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3), which rose 11.40% or 1.01 points to trade at 9.87 at the close. Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) added 10.29% or 0.14 points to end at 1.50 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) was up 9.79% or 0.19 points to 2.13 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which lost 4.14% or 0.22 points to trade at 5.09 in late trade. Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3) declined 2.73% or 0.62 points to end at 22.10 and Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) shed 0.81% or 0.14 points to 17.10.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 513 to 458 and 54 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.40% to 35.15.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 1.85 to $2,747.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.12% or 2.17 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.15% or 2.80 to trade at $245.75 .

USD/BRL was down 1.38% to 5.79, while EUR/BRL rose 1.51% to 6.30.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 103.80.
