Greece shares lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.71%

Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Household and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 0.71%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr), which rose 3.57% or 0.07 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) added 2.90% or 0.14 points to end at 4.97 and Optima bank SA (AT:OPTIMAr) was up 1.54% or 0.20 points to 13.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Domiki Kritis SA (AT:DKRr), which lost 4.07% or 0.14 points to trade at 3.30 in late trade. Quality and Reliability SA (AT:QUAr) declined 2.56% or 0.03 points to end at 1.14 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) shed 2.08% or 0.11 points to 5.19.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 26 and 21 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 5.55 to $2,528.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.80% or 0.56 to hit $69.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.47 to trade at $73.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.43% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 101.21.
