FTSE 100 higher today; shares mixed at market open, retail sales satisfactory

Investing.com – U.K. equities started mixed on Tuesday. Top performing sectors were Industrial Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Personal Goods; while the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Construction & Building Materials were the worst performers.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.09%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also rose. The FTSE 250 increased 0.19%, while the FTSE 350 was up by 0.15%.
Top Gainers:
- Rolls-Royce (LON:RR): Climbed 3.40% or 15.80 points to 480.10.
- Ashtead Group (LON:AHT): Rose 2.99% or 160.0 points to 5,518.0.
- Hikma Pharma (LON:HIK): Increased 1.93% or 38.0 points to 2,012.00.

Top Losers:
- Rightmove (LON:RMV): Dropped 1.14% or 8.10 points to 699.90.
- Anglo American (LON:AAL): Fell 1.33% or 29.5 points to 2,185.5.
- Fresnillo (LON:FRES): Declined 1.01% or 5.50 points to 536.50.

In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for December delivery climbed 0.20 points to 2,531.90 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for October delivery added 0.16 points, climbing to 74.20 a barrel.
- November Brent Oil Contract fell 0.17% or 0.13 points to 77.39 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD continues its journey over 1.31 line.
- EUR/GBP is stable at 0.84.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up at 101.564.
Main Economic Events:
Today's main economic event in the United Kingdom is the retail sales numbers, which has read 0.8% yearly.
