Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.84% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 2.92% or 0.81 points to trade at 28.58 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) added 2.77% or 0.95 points to end at 35.27 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was up 1.98% or 2.55 points to 131.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which lost 6.50% or 6.85 points to trade at 98.50 in late trade. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) declined 1.60% or 0.84 points to end at 51.68 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) shed 1.33% or 0.96 points to 71.44.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which rose 7.85% to 40.39, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 6.28% to settle at 14.30 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which gained 5.81% to close at 112.90.
The worst performers were ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which was down 7.13% to 417.00 in late trade, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which lost 6.50% to settle at 98.50 and Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 3.00% to 1.88 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 267 to 204 and 116 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.66% or 16.70 to $2,554.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.87% or 1.39 to hit $75.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 1.06 to trade at $78.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 101.28.
