FTSE 100 higher today; growth data disappoints

Investing.com – U.K. equities started mixed on Wednesday, with rises nearly in all sectors. The top risers were Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance and Oil & Gas.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.13%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also rose. The FTSE 250 increased 0.28%, while the FTSE 350 was up by 0.13%.
Top Gainers:
- Antofagasta (LON:ANTO): Rose 2.74% or 45.50 points to 1,709.00.
- Fresnillo (LON:FRES): Climbed 2.53% or 13.00 points to 527.00.
- Burberry Group (LON:BRBY): Increased 2.49% or 14.2 points to 585.2.
Top Losers:
- Rentokil (LON:RTO): Fell 15.77% or 75.00 points to 400.50.
- AstraZeneca (LON:AZN): Dropped 1.27% or 158.0 points to 12,248.0.
- GSK (LON:GSK) plc: Declined 0.99% or 16.50 points to 1,654.50.
In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for December delivery climbed 11.85 points to 2,554.95 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for October delivery increased 0.87 points to 66.62 a barrel.
- November Brent Oil Contract rose 1.33% or 0.92 points to 70.11 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD is cruising at 1.3095.
- EUR/GBP is at 0.84.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.342.
Main Economic Events:
Today's main economic events in the United Kingdom are the GDP and manufacturing data. Both failed to meet the expectations.
