Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.55% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3), which rose 12.29% or 5.22 points to trade at 47.71 at the close. Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3) added 5.24% or 0.37 points to end at 7.43 and Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) was up 4.41% or 0.06 points to 1.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3), which lost 2.95% or 0.13 points to trade at 4.28 in late trade. Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3) declined 2.81% or 0.79 points to end at 27.32 and Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) shed 2.66% or 0.15 points to 5.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 661 to 287 and 44 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.35% to 28.61.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.14% or 31.45 to $2,728.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.05% or 0.75 to hit $70.99 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.84% or 2.10 to trade at $251.95 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.01% to 5.69, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.02% to 6.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 104.24.
